Barbara Jacobsen is a collage artist and painter. She developed what she calls a journeybook, which is a series of collages pasted into old books. She also collaborates and mentors a group of collage artists, and their story is chronicled in the book Living Into Art: Journeys Through Collage by Lindsay Whitings.
Ray Jacobsen (1938-2007) was born in Englewood Colorado, and came to Sonoma County in 1947 with his family. Ray is known for his landscape paintings of Sonoma County. He contributed his time and artwork to the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art, where he as an Advisory Council member. Ray was also one of the founding members of the Arts Guild of Sonoma in 1977, an active and supportive member for 30 years.

Barbara Jacobs is known for drawing, painting in a variety of media, pastels, digital art, monotypes, and mixed media. Her fine art and her designs range from the ‘painterly’ to more structured, sometimes including historic or intercultural design references or whimsical motifs.

Sterling Hoffman paints seascapes, landscapes, farmscapes, tractors and vintage vehicles, often on location. He is known for his oil paintings with a saturated pallet.
The Sonoma artist Laura Hoffman works in oil painting and mixed media and uses playful lines, symbols and colors to depict women. Laura has a MA in Education from the University of San Francisco, and BFA in Painting from the San Francisco Art Institute.
Caroline Hipkiss is an artist from Sonoma, California who paints with acrylic paint on birch mounted to wood frames. Caroline received her BA from the University of California at Santa Cruz with a concentration in Scientific Illustration. Her subject matters include the natural world, people, buildings, foods and other nonscientific images.
Ceramic sculptress Cynthia Hipkiss creates sculptures that combine primitivism, humor and whimsy. The artist specializes in “wonderfully fat women engaged in such activities as attending a dinner party or walking a dog.” Cynthia Hipkiss attended the California College of Arts and Crafts, and graduated from Sonoma State College with a major in art.
Kirk Hinshaw is a collage artist who comes from rural North Carolina, with a whimsical and dreamlike art style. He attended art schools in Richmond, Virginia, and the San Francisco Art Institute, California. He is active in the Arts Guild of Sonoma.
Jeremy Joan Hewes specializes in photography and printmaking. She was a founding member of Riverfront Gallery in Petaluma, CA, and is currently a gallery artist at Healdsburg Center for the Arts in Healdsburg, CA. She is also a writer and author of seven books.
Gordon Herr was an architect and a co-founder with his wife Jane, of Pond Farm Artist Colony, the American Artist Colony near Guerneville, California that began in 1939-1940. The Herrs envisioned Pond Farm as a community for artists fleeing Europe at the onset of World War II. Gordon thought of it as “a sustainable sanctuary for artists away from a world gone amuck.” The colony would in part support itself through summer workshops, and several renowned resident artists came to teach there, including Victor Reis, Frans Wildenhain and wife Marguerite Wildenhain.
